Review of proposal for multidrug resistant TB patient clinic in Nsawam District Hospital, Ghana. KPMG. Nov-Dec 2019
The Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service are planning to build a 20-bed clinic for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis patients at Nsawam District Hospital, located some 30 km north of Accra. The project is carried out in partnership with the Global Fund and KPMG, as advisor. The Interacta design office was contracted by International Development Advisory Services of KPMG in Ghana for the review of the construction project prepared by Ghana Health Service. The evaluation work focuses on the project’s compliance with international guidelines for the control of respiratory infections and the WHO TB infection control policy. Activities included site visits, meetings with numerous stakeholders, review of available project documents, in particular technical documents, and the final report. The observations and adaptations proposed were integrated into the final GHS project and mainly concern patient segregation, the organization of staff and patient flows, the natural ventilation of sensitive rooms, the organization of the laboratory and, in general, the implementation of adequate infection prevention and control measures.
